Canberra has a drop-off point for the "National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme" at the Mitchell Resource Management Centre. Rather than turning left for the general waste, turn right and stop next to the large steel mesh crates. There is one place for computers and another for TVs. Judging by the amount of material piled up in the crates (they look like a hi-tech gabion wall), the scheme is working well. But perhaps it is a bit too easy to simply trow away perfectly usable working TVs and computers, which should be instead reused.
