The OECD released its six monthly broadband statistics for developed nations on 6 December 2010. What made headlines in Australia was that the nation slipped in its broadband connections per head of population. What many missed was that Australia was third after Korea and Sweden for dedicated mobile data subscriptions. Korea was way out in front at 78.6%, with Sweden at 23.3% and Australia close behind at 21.2%. That is one in five people in Australia have a mobile subscription just for data (separate from their mobile phone subscription).
