Cyber White Paper Consultations

The Australian Computer Society (ACS) is consulting its members (and other interested professionals) on what should be in the Australian Governments Cyber Policy. Consultations are around Australia from 17 to 20 October.

The Australian Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet issued a discussion paper "Connecting With Confidence: Optimizing Australia's Digital Future" and the public was invited to contribute to what is claimed to be Australia's first "CyberWhitePaper".

I am on the team preparing the ACS response. It should be noted that this is not Australia's first attempt at cyber policy. Roger Clarke and myself prepared a submission on behalf of the ACS to various government inquiries of the mid 1990s titled "Vision for a Networked Nation". The government of the time adopted the title for their policy and some of the suggested policy.
