Renault Android Car Tablet Computer
Renault are reported to be integrating an Android computer in their cars. This will display ancillary information, such as fuel consumption and be used for entertainment. This is the approach most car makers are taking with an ancillary display in the center console, separate from the driver's display of speed and engine warnings. Ford have integrated their system into the vehicle, which provides for lower cost and a neater look, but using a separate tablet computer allows for more rapid upgrade of the computer. Numerous after-market suppliers are fitting Apple iPads to cars. iRoc appear to have adopted the approach of building an iPhone cradle into a car radio.
