Business Models for e-Learning

Discussing e-learning with a doctor recently, they recommended the Neuroscience Education Institute as an example of good e-learning. One aspect which looks interesting is the business model, with an annual membership fee (US$229 a year), and many tests, publications and learning materials for less than US$100 (but some being thousands of dollars).
