John Muirhead and Chuck Mallett perfomed "Brecht: Bilbao and Beyond" as part of the Melbourne Cabaret Festival in July 2012, at Chapel Off Chapel. One modern note for this telling of the life of Bertolt Brecht, through poem and song, was the use of Apple iPads in place of sheet music. I think Brecht would have approved the iPad's minimalist case. It was a little distracting to see Chuck Mallett have to swipe the screen fo the next page of music (I expect there is an auto page turner app for the iPad).
Muirhead and Mallett's Devised banter was entertaining, but I would have welcomed a break from just the one singing voice and one piano.
