On 6 August 2010the High Court of Australia declared that parts of the Electoral and Referendum Amendment (Electoral Integrity and Other Measures) Act 2006 are invalid. As a result the deadline for voters to enrol for the federal election was extended by a week and abut 100,000 people who had put in late applications can now vote. The court does not appear to have been asked if registering online was legal.
