The ANU Political Academy invites you for a discussion on the Australian perspective of humanitarian intervention, how decisions to intervene are made and the factors that contribute to this decision. Dr Fernandes will use a brief case study of East Timor to illustrate how Australia balances moral and political issues, and how Australia performs on a world stage. Questions that will be considered include - How do we define intervention? And what does our obligations extend to?
