Radio Documentary on Walter Burley Griffin

ABC Radio National will broadcast "The idealists: creating Castlecrag", by Nicole Steinke, 1pm 8 July 2012. This will then be available for download:
Architects and visionaries Walter Burley Griffin and Mahony Griffin never gave up. They came to Australia to create an ideal capital city for our young nation, but were thrown off the project, beaten by the bureaucracy.

Instead of heading home to Chicago, they turned their vast energy towards creating an ideal community on the shores of Sydney Harbour. That community was Castlecrag. During the 1920s and '30s it attracted an extraordinary group of people who pushed the boundaries in the arts, politics, the environment and spirituality.
