Community Energy Efficiency Program

The Australian Government released the Community Energy Efficiency Program Guidelines, 9 February 2012. Also there is a media release and website. The program provides Commonwealth Government grants to local councils and non-profit community organisations for energy efficiency upgrades and retrofits to council and community use buildings, facilities and lighting. Grants will normally be up to $5M, but could be more for "... iconic street lighting projects proposed by groupings of local councils or for regional street lighting projects ...". The lower funding limit is $20,000 for non-profit community organisations and small regional and rural councils, $35,000 for medium-sized regional councils and $50,000 for metropolitan and large regional councils. There will be stakeholder information sessions in February 2012 Applications open 13 February and close 23 March, with projects to be completed by June 2016. This does not appear to leave a lot of time for the stakeholder sessions before the applications open. There is also the Related programs include the Low Income Energy Efficiency Program and the Energy Efficiency Information Grants.
