According to
Professor Adrian Bejan at Duke University, the
Golden Ratio is built into human vision. This is detailed in his paper "
The Golden Ratio Predicted: Vision, Cognition And Locomotion As A Single Design In Nature" (
International Journal of Design & Nature and Ecodynamics, Vol4, Issue 2, 2009). I am not sure I am convinced by this argument, but did notice that
wide screen computer displays have a width to height ratio of 1.6, which is the same as the golden ratio to one decimal place.
Wide screen TVs are wider at approximately 1.8 (16:9).
