Ultra Mobile PC With Keyboard

HTC have announced the HTC Shift, an Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC) with a keyboard and 3G wireless cellular phone interface. UMPCs failed as a product, partly due to the need to use an on screen virtual keyboard. The HTC Shift has a keyboard, but at around US$1500, this is still expensive for a hand held gadget. An ASUS Eee PC costs about US$500 and provides enough memory and processing power for every day computing. The HTC Shift has a hard disk and faster processor, but it is not clear why you would want a fragile hard disk which could be easily stolen with valuable data in such a portable device.
