787 Battery Fire
The US National Transportation Safety Board have issued
photographs of the burned auxiliary power unit battery from a JAL Boeing 787
(14 January 2013). The lithium-ion cells are barely recognizable due to the fire. The battery weighs 63 US pounds, so there is a serious risk to an aircraft from fire.
